When they meet the grizzled, white-bearded Howard Walter Huston at a Mexican flophouse, he is spinning tales of gold prospecting. He warns of the loneliness, hard labor, and danger involved, adding that the pursuit of gold does terrible things to the souls of even the best men.

TheAnimalMother 2 November Warning: Spoilers Let me start by saying that this is easily one of the top 5 pre films in existence. No doubt about that in my mind. Not only that, but it is easily one of the greatest films ever made after as well. To me, this film in the end plays as a dark comedy.

A dark comedy that pokes it's fun at the greedy devil within the minds of men. The thing that stands out to me the most about this film is the writing. The Oscar winning screenplay is in my view still under-appreciated.

DVD Savant Review: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

This film's writing is totally devoid of any prejudice at all, and has a depth that almost every other film can only dream to have. A truly amazing work. I could go on and on about this film, but I will just end by saying that as a story, and as a film, The Treasure Of Sierra Madre will stand as an artistic landmark for all of human history.

Bogart was equally good as Huston n in my opinion Bogart's best acting display. Revisited it recently on a blu-ray. Treasure of the Sierra Madre is one of my favourite n in my opinion Bogarts best acting display.

Searching for gold has always been a popular film topic n this film has really nailed it with superb display of human nature.

Bogart was phenomenal in this film. In this film he is so full of paranoia, insanity n evil but u still feel pity for him. His grungy, unkempt n unshaven look added to the character.

The film has a dark tone dealing with human nature of greed, paranoia, evil intentions, insanity n ignorance but it has its share of laughs.

Walter Huston's happy dance, Bogart's evil smile, Holt showing equanimity in adversity n Alfonso Bedoyas ignorant n illiterate attitude.

The scene, where the character of Holt wondering whether to help his fellow colleague trapped inside the mine n his sympathy towards the widows share of gold as well his infatuation with the widow by jus looking at the photo were again some of the common human nature dealt very well in the film.

The scene where the three leading characters are ready to kill the fourth one was indeed mans darkest nature. Was surprised to see someone like Bogart playing a diametrically opposite character compared to his earlier films. A remake is needed with more focus on the action n adventure.Oct 30,  · Parents need to know that The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, director John Huston's exploration of greed, betrayal, and conscience, is a classic black-and-white film based on B.

Traven's novel of the same name. Probably younger viewers will be uninterested, but older teens who are students of classic film may appreciate the craftsmanship and the fact that it was one of the first 4/4. Although John Huston's directing is absolutely equal to the screenplay, winning Oscars for both, it is the performance level of the actors that makes "Treasure of The Sierra Madre" the classic film that it is.

John Huston films rarely have that problem, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is just so good that it always seems fresh and new.

B. Traven's timeless tale of adventure and greed helped cement John Huston's reputation as a great filmmaker, a fact a lot of critics have never admitted. Check out the exclusive ashio-midori.com movie review and see our movie rating for The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre.
